Spending some down time in the first half of 2020 meant a lot of time looking at artists and photographers that I really enjoy. In particular the past week I've been looking at American 1970's photographer Stephen Shore, who was heavily involved in the Warhol documentation and made a genre out of shooting the seemingly banal, everyday scenes and items at his disposal. Think postcard books of mens sheds - it probably has its roots somewhere with Shore.
I walk a lot around my rental property in Ballina and on one particular day everything I saw looked distinctly reminiscent of the British seaside. Combined with some old retro style colourisation I enjoyed recreating the vibe of an old English scene referencing some of Shore's style.
